The Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization (CPRO) has named Karen Vasquez as its Interim Executive Director. Karen has spent the last fifteen years working in the field of economic development, creating compelling stories to help recruit and retain Fortune 500 companies, non-profits, hotels and more to Arlington, Virginia.

Karen spent 14 years working for Arlington Economic Development (AED) in various positions.  She was AED’s Public Relations Director for eight years, then served as Director of Cultural Affairs and finally Director of Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives until she left Arlington County government in 2017. She went on to work for the Rosslyn Business Improvement District as Senior Director of Engagement until early last year.

With a passion for shaping communities and an inexplicable love of the complexities and idiosyncrasies of local government, Karen has helped drive the growth of the community she calls home and says, “As the former liaison between Arlington Economic Development and CPRO, I’ve had the pleasure of watching the organization mature over the last few years under the leadership of Cecilia Cassidy. I’m looking forward to working with the staff and Board again, and am committed to helping CPRO maintain its growth as they embark upon a search for a permanent director.”

When CPRO  Executive Director Cecilia Cassidy announced her retirement last month, the organization began its search for a new director. The search is led by CPRO Board President John Snyder and is now accepting applications. Details can be found online at http://ip8.cb0.myftpupload.com//cpro-seeks-new-executive-director/
