Columbia Pike Movie Nights begin Saturday, June 3 at Penrose Square with “9 to 5”, sponsored by Mancini de Paris.
The 1980 film starring Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin is rated PG. With equal pay and the gender wage gap being as relevant as ever, this 37 year old film is still radical today. The film was conceived by Jane Fonda, who was inspired by Karen Nussbaum, friend and founder of 9to5, an organization advocating for working women. Whether you think of it as a statement on female empowerment or simply a fun workplace comedy, the 1980 hit 9 to 5 is a bona fide comedy classic.
