The long-awaited development, Gilliam Place, by Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing (APAH), is set to host its official ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, November 14, 2019, from 12 – 2 pm at Columbia Pike and S. Lincoln St.
The property brings 173 affordable housing units to Columbia Pike, all of which are ADA accessible with 15 Type-A accessible units including roll-in showers. Additionally, the building is energy and water efficient (rated EarthCraft Multifamily Platinum), features a community room, underground parking, and an outdoor playground, and boasts on-site Resident Services staff focused on resident health/wellness, education, workforce development.
Gilliam Place will also be the new home of the Arlington Presbyterian Church (APC). In fact, the APAH development chose its name in honor of Ronda Gilliam, who became the first African American member of APC in 1960.
Another local non-profit, La Cocina VA, will also be moving into Gilliam Place early 2020.
In addition to Thursday’s Ribbon Cutting, APAH and APC will be hosting multiple weekend events at the new building (918 S Lincoln St, Arlington, VA 22204).
