James Sampson is the founder and owner of Wireless RXX, a locally owned and operated computer and phone repair shop on Columbia Pike. James, a former Apple employee, recognized a need that was not being fulfilled in the industry, for good customer service and affordable prices. He decided to open his first location in February 2018 on Columbia Pike. The idea behind James’ business is to provide a trusting experience and transparency to his customers and the industry in general. Today, Wireless RXX has 4 locations in the area and 10 full-time employees. In 4 years the business expanded from James being the only employee to a large family, he is very happy with the success and growth of the business and considers the Columbia Pike location the place that allowed him to achieve that, “Columbia Pike has been the place where my business grew and thrived, and I became known, I really love this street” he says.
James has lived and experienced several cultures throughout his life, he is fluent in Arabic, Spanish, Thai, and English and considers himself an international person. Born in Chile, James grew up in different countries, due to the nature of his father’s job with the government his family had to move every couple of years, he lived in Peru, Mexico, and other counties, and he returned to the US around 6 years ago. “The Columbia Pike corridor is a perfect mix of the cultures and the food I grew up with”, says James. As we chat, James points to one of the walls inside the store with a collection of bills from different countries courtesy of his clients, on another wall you can also see posters in original Mongolian calligraphy gifted by another client. “The cultural blend is something I love about this location, there aren’t many jobs that allow you to speak in different languages on a day-to-day basis and when you speak in someone else’s
native language you connect better”.

With the mission to create less waste, James is a follower of the right to repair movement, an initiative with the goal of making it easier and cheaper for customers to repair their own devices by proposing legislation that forces manufacturers to make spare parts and repair tools available. James’ environmental approach includes the four R’s – Reduce, Reuse, Repair, and Recycle. “If you can fix it, you can keep using it”.
The small company is committed to helping the community not only by offering affordable prices and high-quality work but also by giving back. Last year during the Afghan refugee crisis, Wireless RXX started an initiative where people could donate their old or broken devices (phones, laptops, etc) and Wireless RXX would fix them for free and donate them to Afghan families. This program was a success and the support of the community was so significant that they are still accepting donations of used electronics and plan to fix and donate them to Ukrainian refugees or other families in need.
Wireless RXX also offers private courses for those interested in learning how to repair devices, offering basic, intermediate, and expert levels. These courses can take from 3 days to 2 weeks, and allow participants to learn the necessary skills to start their own repair business. For more information about these courses visit www.wirelessrxx.com/courses. James plans to expand and find investors to open more locations while keeping the same promise to his customers: better human connection, better customer service, and affordable prices.
